David Cuartielles will be speaking about the past present and future of the Arduino platform, both hardware and software. There will be an opportunity for DT students to share their work in quick 3 - 5 min presentations. What have you made with the Arduino? David's talk and presentations will be followed by workshops on paper prototyping, hackduinos, and more. This event is free! However, if you plan on attending the workshop, there is a materials fee of $5.
Schedule of Events:
Session 1 (12:00pm to 3:00pm)
12:00pm David Cuartielles talk
2:00pm Questions
2:30pm Quick presentations
---Break for Lunch 3:00pm to 3:45pm---
Session 2 (3:45pm to 6.00pm)
Workshop & Demos
Demos
Embedding Electronics with Arduino: Becky Stern will show you how to use conductive thread to add an LED to fabric. She'll also show examples of nontraditional conductive materials and sample uses in soft electronics and wearable computing, including an overview of the LilyPad Arduino. sternlab.org
Hackduino, Using the Arduino Platform in Integrated and Minimalist Ways: How can we utilize the functionality of the $35 Arduino in a permanently developed piece with just $8 of materials? Where can I find these parts, and what are Arduino "clones"? What does "opensource hardware" mean? Get answers to these burning questions, and learn about how you can integrate the Arduino platform into your projects in smart and efficient ways. Demo by Joe Saavedra
Workshop
Paper Prototypes: This workshop introduces participants to basic soft electronics construction techniques and materials used to build paper-based prototypes. Participants will learn about materials suitable for building paper circuits such as conductive and resistive paint , copper tape and conductive fabric. During the workshop participants will develop their own paper circuit project that will integrate surface mount LEDs, and basic touch based sensors.
Bring your Arduino if you have one! Workshop by Paola Guimerans and Cecilia Elguero
**RSVP is needed to participate in this workshop as materials need to be purchased.
Requirements: none
Price: $5
